I've recently been flooded with calls on Teams from people claiming to be from IT, and it's the first time I've experienced this. I'm concerned about the risks it poses to legitimate communications. Has anyone else dealt with this situation? What measures did you take to prevent it?

Look out for unusual email activity as well. We recently dealt with a similar situation, and it started with spam-rich newsletters which led to strange Teams calls from an external IT support name. We ended up blocking those external domains to prevent further issues.

In cases like this, just asking for a password can help determine if they are legitimate. If they don't know it, it’s a red flag! Also, we had something similar happen post-subscription bomb, and that's when we enabled stricter settings.

It sounds like you might be dealing with external calls. A quick way to manage this is to disallow external Teams contacts. You could set this up temporarily or even permanently if you prefer!

Check your Teams settings for 'Manage external domains' to restrict communication. You can block all external domains, but also allow specific trusted ones if needed. I found that this helped to reduce unwanted contacts significantly.

I’ve noticed a rise in calls like this too. We had to tighten our Teams' settings to ensure we only allow calls from verified domains. Educating your users to recognize what's suspicious also plays a big part in keeping everyone safe.
