I'm trying to figure out how to import RightFax PDFs directly into Epic EMR. We already send faxes from Epic, but I couldn't find any information on how to upload files from RightFax directly into the system. I've checked Epic Galaxy and Userweb but didn't find any clear answers. I have some understanding of computer systems from my clinical background, but I'm not a tech expert. Our IT team has looked into this issue before, but I'm not sure what the current status is.

To get those faxes in as images, you're going to want to explore the incoming PDF HL7 specifications. Basically, you can upload the PDFs to the BLOB in Epic and tie those to patient records. However, the specifics may vary depending on the type of files you want to digitize and your ultimate goal with them. If you're planning to pull specific data from these documents, it's definitely going to be a more complex task.
Thanks for the info! We're currently having medical assistants sort faxes from the main RightFax inbox to the providers' inboxes. They print the faxes, fill them out, and then rescan them into the patient's chart. My dream scenario is a completely digital process where annotations can be done right within Epic or RightFax after sorting. We use OnBase, and I was hoping to directly import into Epic, then have MAs attach them to patients for editing and faxing. Not sure how realistic that is, but I'm definitely looking for a smoother workflow!
