How to Improve FPS on My New MSI Gaming PC?

I recently purchased a used MSI Trident A Plus, which has an Intel i7-9700, an RTX 2070 Super, and 16GB of RAM. I've updated the drivers and software to the latest versions and primarily use it for gaming. However, I'm only seeing a small increase in FPS compared to my old gaming laptop. When playing Valorant on low settings (with V-sync off), I get around 180-210 FPS, and in Fortnite on low settings, I get about 160-190 FPS. Are there any tips to boost my FPS further, or is this the maximum potential of my system?

Your system is a bit older, with components from 2018, so it might not give you the huge jump in performance you're hoping for. It's essential to check the resolution you’re playing at, as well as your GPU usage in games to better understand what's happening. Try launching your games and looking at the task manager to see how much of the GPU is being utilized during gameplay.

I get your frustration with FPS expectations! Since you're gaming at 1080p and with everything set to low, you'd typically expect to see better performance from those specs. Make sure your power settings are set to High Performance in the control panel. Also, check if there's any software running in the background that could be using up resources. Additionally, knowing your GPU utilization can really help identify any bottlenecks in performance.
