I recently set up Linux Mint Cinnamon on my Dell Optiplex 960, which has a Core2Duo E8400 processor, 4GB of RAM, and an HDD for storage. Unfortunately, I'm experiencing really poor graphics performance; there's noticeable lag when moving windows around, and YouTube video playback is choppy—around 2 fps even at 720p. I checked the driver manager but couldn't find any available drivers. What can I do to fix this?

I used to work with the Optiplex 960 myself—great machine back in the day! It's important to figure out what graphics setup you’re using since that impacts performance massively. Integrated graphics can struggle with modern tasks, and the kernel can play a role too. Just for reference, ensure you have your swap setup correct since you have limited RAM.
Switching from Cinnamon to XFCE might help a lot. Cinnamon isn't really optimized for older hardware like yours. If you're having trouble with YouTube performance, I recommend looking for the h264ify extension to help with playback. Sometimes the desktop environment may not even support hardware acceleration with older integrated graphics like in your system.
You should definitely consider trying AntiX as it’s designed for older systems. It should help improve performance significantly since it's lightweight. I’ve heard great things about it for managing simple tasks on aged hardware.
Check out some lightweight Linux distributions like Bodhi Linux 7.0 HWE. They are often better suited for hardware limits and can give you a smoother experience on older systems.
I’m planning to switch to AntiX to see if it’s any better!
