How to Remove a Domain from Someone Else’s Microsoft 365 Account?

I'm trying to verify a domain that I own, but it's already linked to a previous owner's Microsoft 365 tenant. I've reached out to Microsoft Support for help, but it's been over a week without any response. Is there any alternative way to get this resolved? It's becoming really frustrating.

I went through a similar situation, and ultimately, Microsoft was able to help me. In another case, it involved recovering the previous tenant to unlink the domain. Just be patient and keep following up with them.

This whole process can take around 3-4 weeks. If you can’t get in touch with the people who own the other tenant, prepare for a long wait.

If you don’t have access to the other tenant to unlink it, it could take a really long time. The quickest I’ve seen was 3 weeks, and that was only because the customer had the credit card for the old tenant. Sometimes it can drag on for months, especially if there’s any dispute over the domain.

You should definitely unlink it in the other tenant first. It's pretty standard for tenant migrations. But you might need Microsoft involved if you can't access that tenant.

Exactly, it's not my tenant that the domain is registered with, so that's why I'm reaching out to Microsoft!
