We're really frustrated with our current Technical Account Manager (TAM). They rarely provide any valuable support, and some of their suggestions have actually worsened our services. It seems like they often misinterpret our issues and the AWS solutions, mainly just sending us links to documentation instead of offering practical help. Our confidence in them has completely eroded, and we feel like we have a better grasp of AWS than they do. We've raised concerns about the impact of their advice several times, but nothing changes. We're looking to understand the process for requesting a new TAM since we pay over $500k a month just in our department. Can someone guide us on how to approach this?

I think reaching out to the account manager is the right move. They take feedback seriously, and you can also request the contact details of the TAM's manager. It’s important to raise these concerns since it could affect the TAM's career.
It might help to keep a detailed record of your interactions with your current TAM. Note what has worked, what hasn’t, and how well they’ve collaborated with your team. If needed, find out the email for their manager and share your documented issues with them. This will make your case stronger when you ask for a new TAM.
That’s interesting, but have you considered if the problem could be a lack of testing or understanding from your end too? A TAM's advice only goes so far if you’re not validating it yourself. Maybe there's a bigger issue at play beyond just the TAM.
You should definitely reach out to your account manager directly. They can help you navigate the process for getting a new TAM or addressing your concerns with your current one.
AWS is usually open to feedback. You might want to ask your TAM to arrange a call between your team and their manager to have a more open discussion about your experience. Be factual and bring documented proof like ticket histories or email conversations. Keep it business-focused without getting emotional. If that fails, escalate through your account team.
