Hey everyone! My girlfriend has an iPhone 13 Pro currently running on iOS 15, and she's interested in updating it, but she's worried that upgrading might worsen her battery issues since her battery health is down to 78%. I want to help her with this update and additionally, we're considering getting a new battery. What would be the best approach to update her phone? Should we visit an Apple Store, or is it better to do it through iTunes or Finder? Thanks for any advice!

Since her battery health is already below 80%, it’s a good idea to consider replacing it regardless of the update. Apple suggests replacing batteries around that mark because the performance can drop, especially with software updates. Just a heads up, upgrading to the latest iOS will likely drain the battery even more, so replacing the battery first might be best.

What’s the best way to go about replacing her battery? I've heard it's a bit costly, but since we're living at home, it might be the right time to invest in it.

It's understandable for her to be concerned about battery performance with major updates. To be on the safe side, I usually make an encrypted backup in Finder and archive it before proceeding with any updates. Using Finder to install the update with the correct IPSW file is a good route. Just ensure she has backups regardless!

You mentioned iCloud backups, so that takes care of data safety! To find the IPSW files, you can check websites that host IPSW downloads or find them through the Finder update process itself.
