I've been sharing an Apple ID with my mom for about six years, which has resulted in some awkward situations like shared camera rolls. I've tried to fix this before, but it ended up costing me all my photos, so I gave up on that. Plus, I have to deal with text message forwarding issues every few months, and it's pretty annoying having to repeatedly show her how to stop getting my messages. I'm looking for a solid way to finally separate my Apple ID from hers without losing my photos, app data, contacts, game progress, and message history. It's crucial for me to keep everything intact during this process. Also, just a heads up, I don't have a Mac. Any help would be appreciated!

First, make sure your mom's iCloud is activated. On her phone, create a new album where you put all your personal photos. Then, set up a new Apple ID on your iPhone and log in to that. Also, activate iCloud on your phone. After that, share the album with your personal photos from your mom's phone with your new Apple ID. Once that's done, you can download all your photos from the shared album to keep them safe!

This sounds great, but what if I have a lot of photos, like 40,000? Will that take long to transfer?
