Hey everyone! I just got internet installed in my new place, but the router is tucked away in a cupboard in the center of the house. I'm really keen on having a wired connection because I'm not a fan of drilling holes or running long ethernet cables. I noticed there are several ethernet ports in that cupboard as well—could I plug the router into one of those and then use the other ports in different rooms for a connection? Any advice would be appreciated!

Yeah, if your router only has one port, a cheap 5-port switch can do the trick! Plug the router into the switch, then connect the switch to the wall ports in other rooms. This way, you’re all set for a wired connection as long as the wiring is good!
You should be fine! Just connect one end of an ethernet cable into the router and the other to the port in the room where you need internet. If everything’s set up right, you’ll have a connection in no time!
If your router has multiple ethernet ports, connect each port to those wall connections in the cupboard. If not, I recommend getting a small ethernet switch. Connect the router to the switch, then run shorter cables from there to the wall ports—this should give you internet access in multiple rooms!
Assuming the wires and ports are in good shape, you should be able to connect the router to one of the ports and then plug into the others in different rooms. Just be careful if they aren't labeled; it might take some trial and error to figure it out. A cable tester could help if you run into issues!
Wait, what? You’ve got ethernet ports in your cupboard? That’s awesome! It sounds like your house already has some pre-installed ethernet connections. Just check if those ports are connected to your router. You can plug your PC into one of those ports to see if it works—might save you some hassle!

Haha, yes, it’s like a utility cupboard with a setup! I’ll give it a shot later today. Thanks for the tip!
