How to Speed Up My Lenovo X1 Carbon Without Reformatting?

Hey everyone! I've got a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon G10 or G12 (can't remember for sure), and it's been really slow lately. In the past six months, even simple things like opening Chrome take way longer than they should. Initially, it was super fast, so this change is pretty frustrating. Sometimes, when I wake it up from sleep, it almost freezes and I have to restart to get it working better again. I'm wondering if there's a way to clean it up without needing to format it, or if formatting might just be the easiest option. The laptop is roughly two years old and I use it for work about 6-8 hours a day, mainly using Excel.

Cleaning out the dust might be doable for someone who's not super tech-savvy! Just make sure to follow some tutorials online to avoid damaging anything. If you're not comfortable, it might be worth asking a professional to take a look.

It sounds like your laptop might be suffering from dust buildup in the fans and heatsink, which could cause overheating and thermal throttling. Another thing to check is your RAM usage—you could be running low on RAM while multitasking, or your hard drive could be starting to fail. Pull up Task Manager and see if your RAM or disk usage is maxing out. If either is high, that's a clear indicator of the problem.

Don’t forget to check for software issues too! Sometimes background applications can hog your RAM without you noticing. Try closing unnecessary programs and see if that helps. Also, consider adding more RAM if it's feasible; that could give your system a good boost.
