How to Stop iCloud Backup on My iPad That’s Stuck Restoring?

I have a 3rd generation iPad Pro that's about five years old, and it's been continuously backing up to iCloud since I got it. Lately, I tried to stop the backup, but every time I press "stop backup," nothing happens. My settings indicate that an estimated 100MB is required to finish restoring my apps and data, but I still have plenty of space left (53GB out of 64GB). This issue has persisted for years, and it's preventing me from updating my software to fix problems with some apps, like YouTube, which are no longer functioning properly. However, it insists that I need to finish restoring before I can proceed with updates. Interestingly, when I look in my iCloud storage, there aren't any backups for this iPad. I've searched several forums, and I'm feeling pretty desperate. I'm looking for straightforward and effective advice on how to resolve this issue. If you need any further details, just let me know!

It sounds like you might need to update your iPad using a computer. Since it’s not allowing you to stop the iCloud backup wirelessly, try connecting your iPad to a Mac or PC, and then update it through Finder or Apple Devices. This step usually helps resolve these kinds of issues and can get your software up to date without the backup interference.

That's a good idea! Also, if you continue having issues, try resetting your network settings as a last resort. It could help your device to complete the restore.
