How to Tag iPhones for Easy Identification?

We have all our phones managed through mobile device management (MDM), but phones often get swapped among crew members. I'm looking for the best ways to tag these iPhones to keep track of which phone belongs to whom. I think engraving the serial numbers or IMEI could be effective, but I'd love to hear other suggestions from everyone.

Using a label maker is a solid option! If you choose the right type of label, they can stay put and are a lot cheaper than etching. They can also go on the phone case instead of the device itself, which keeps everything neat.

Yeah, that works well. Just remember, the labels can go under the phone case to keep them protected. If they ever wear off, the asset ID pops up on the lock screen when you turn it on.

Definitely! I often put one label on the device and another visible outside, just in case.

This could be just the push to get them to invest in a laser engraver! Do you know of any good models?

We’ve started using MDM to set a unique lock screen image that includes an identifier for each phone. It’s worked out really well for us!

That’s a clever idea! I think I’ll implement that too.

Honestly, a quick label is way cheaper than etching, plus it’s easy to replace if needed. Just make sure to pick a strong one that won’t come off easily.
