I'm trying to run Windows from an external SSD on my laptop, but I'm unsure if I need to do anything special to my laptop before I do that. Do I need to delete or clean install the Windows that's already on my laptop, or can I just plug in the external SSD and boot from it? Could you explain it to me in simple terms?

You don't actually need to mess with your internal drive at all! Just make sure your external SSD is set up correctly and choose it as the boot source when you start your laptop. That should do it! But be aware that getting an external SSD to boot Windows isn't always straightforward, so check out some tutorials or YouTube videos on how to set it up right.
Just a heads up, even a fast external SSD might not run as quickly as an internal drive. Plus, carrying an external SSD around with your laptop isn't the most convenient option. If your laptop is really hard to upgrade though, booting from an external SSD could be your best bet. Just don't forget to configure it correctly!
