How’s the Opus Experience on the Max 20x Plan Compared to 5x?

I've been enjoying my Max 5x subscription, but I'm finding the Opus limits really restrictive. Just today, I reached a usage warning only 20 minutes in while using the 20% mode in Claude Code. After that, I switched to Sonnet 4 and was able to use it without any limits for 10 hours straight. For those who have upgraded to the Max 20x plan, how's your experience been with using Opus? Can you really go all day, or at least for a solid 8 hours, without hitting any limits? I'm curious because my 5x run out of limits so fast, and I'm not sure I'd have a much better experience on 20x.

I used to hit the limits frequently on 5x, but since moving to 20x, I've been working full-time and haven’t seen any limitations. It's a game-changer!

When using the Pro plan, I’d hit limits in just 10-15 minutes! On 20x, I feel like I could go a full 5 hours without running into trouble, provided I take breaks, but continuous use might push it.

Yeah, I've been close to the limit a few times on 20x, especially when I was automating, but it always fell within the reset time.

I've been on the Max 20x plan and honestly, it's been fantastic! I've managed to run Opus in Claude Code for almost 3 hours straight without seeing too many usage warnings. I mostly use it for planning and troubleshooting, not heavily leveraging parallel agents or multiple instances. For me, 20x feels way more flexible than 5x, allowing more extended use in one session without feeling restricted.

I agree! I hit my limits a few times with just Opus on 5x, but 20x feels like a breath of fresh air. I don't think I'll hit those limits again.

That's been my experience too! The transition to 20x has made a noticeable difference.

I hit my limit on the Max 20x plan earlier today after using Opus non-stop for about 8 hours, working on multiple projects simultaneously. I had several parallel agents running, which definitely pushed me over the edge. But wow, it was intense!

I recently switched to 20x too, and while it feels smarter than Sonnet, it's definitely slower at times. What do you mean by those sub-agents?

With the Max 20x plan, I think sessions reset every 5 hours, which has worked for me since I usually use Opus for about 1.5 hours at a time. So far, I haven’t run into issues with the limits.

I thought sessions were 4 hours... did that change to 5? Just curious!
