Hey folks,
I've got a major headache with the HP EliteBook 840 G7 laptops at my workplace, all of which are running Windows 11.
Here's the scoop:
* When these laptops go into standby or sleep mode, they just won't wake up.
* They end up stuck in this weird limbo—neither fully on nor off.
* The only fix is to do a forced shutdown by holding the power button.
So far, I've tried:
* Updating all drivers through the HP Support Assistant.
* Making sure the BIOS is up to date.
* Disabling Fast Startup in Windows.
* Adjusting power settings and sleep preferences.
And here's the kicker—this problem only shows up on the EliteBook 840 G7s. Other laptops in our office are fine. I'm starting to wonder if this might be a:
* Driver issue (probably related to chipset or power management)?
* Compatibility hiccup between the firmware and Windows 11?
* Or is it something else entirely?
Has anyone else run into this issue? Any fixes or workarounds that could save my sanity? Thanks a ton!

I've seen a similar situation on some Lenovo T480S models. The button blinks but they won't fully turn on or off until you force shut it down. Super annoying!
I had a similar experience with my workplace's Lenovo ThinkPad AMD. Windows 11 acted up; I tried every driver fix and even ran system scans, but in the end, I had to remove the sleep button from the start menu just to avoid the issue. It's frustrating!
Are you talking about the ThinkPad T14s Gen6?
