HP Laptop Battery Replacement Issue: Not Charging After Change

Hey everyone, I'm facing a problem with my wife's HP laptop that stopped charging unexpectedly after about five years of use. I ran the HP diagnostics and it indicated that the battery was the issue. I ordered a replacement battery, and when it arrived, I carefully swapped it out. The laptop powered up showing a 65% charge initially, but even though it's plugged in, the battery is discharging instead of charging up. I've tried two different power adapters, the orange light next to the power cord shows it's connected, and Windows recognizes that it's plugged in, but the battery percentage keeps dropping. Is there anything else I can check or do to get it charging again before considering replacing the whole laptop? Thanks for your help!

Have you checked the charging port? Sometimes it can get damaged or accumulate dust which prevents proper connection. Even though the power light is on and Windows shows it's plugged in, the port might still be faulty. If it comes down to replacing it, make sure to read up on whether it's a straightforward repair—some ports are easier to manage than others!

Replacing the charging port can be tricky. If your soldering skills aren't the best, you might want to watch some tutorials before diving in. Take it slow; if you're not confident, it might be worth finding a professional to do it. They can also look for other issues that might be causing the problem.
