HP Mini Computers Losing Ethernet Connection During Modern Standby?

I'm having a bit of trouble with some new HP Mini Computers running Windows 11 that I've deployed for clients. The systems perform well overall, but the network connection gets disrupted when the screen locks or goes into standby mode. The applications that run on these computers require a constant network connection to function properly, otherwise they freeze or throw errors.

I've already adjusted the Windows energy settings to prioritize performance, and I've also made changes in the control panel to try and prevent the network connection from dropping. Despite setting energy-saving options to 'Never' and ensuring that nothing disables or saves power during standby, the problem persists.

In the device manager, I noticed that the option to allow Windows to disable the device is missing, along with other settings in that tab. I've also tweaked various network adapter settings, but with no luck. Just so you know, when the screen locks, the ping times jump up slightly, but as soon as I hit a key, they drop back down. I don't think this is a network hardware issue since it happens across different setups. Any advice on how to keep the network functional during Modern Standby would be awesome!

Have you checked the option that says 'allow Windows to disable this device for power management' in the device manager? It sounds like a driver issue as well; make sure you've got the latest network driver or perhaps try switching between the OEM and HP versions to see if that helps.

I appreciate the suggestion, but I can't find that option in the device manager at all; the tab is missing. I've already tried drivers from the HP site and even went for the Windows Update version, but I haven't manually installed the manufacturer version yet.

You might want to check the Power Management settings in the BIOS. There could be some settings related to power states (like S4/S5) that you should disable to prevent your network from dropping during standby. It’s worth a shot!

I'll look into that! I think they might have replaced those options with the Modern Standby functionality, but I'll double-check.
