I Accidentally Downloaded a Potential Malware File on My iPhone—Am I Safe?

I accidentally downloaded a suspicious .exe file from a fake e-vite email to my Google Drive on my iPhone. I tried to open it in Drive, but it wouldn't work since the file type isn't supported. I've already deleted the email and the file from Drive, but I'm really worried about whether I'm safe now. Since I couldn't run the file, does that mean I'm in the clear? I mainly use my phone for online banking, so I want to make sure I'm secure. Any advice would be appreciated!

You should be fine! .exe files can't run on an iPhone, so that file didn't execute at all. Just make sure you deleted it from your Google Drive, which you mentioned you've done. No need to worry about a system reset; you're safe!

Oh, great! So just downloading it and putting it in Drive means nothing if it didn't run? I was thinking about resetting my phone but it sounds like that's overkill. Thanks a lot!

Yep, you're in the clear! Just keep your iPhone updated and avoid clicking on unknown email attachments in the future. You're good to go!

Exactly! Since .exe files are Windows executables, they can't do anything on your iPhone. Just deleting the file was the right move. You can use your phone as usual without stress!
