I've locked myself out of my phone because I forgot my PIN code. I had been using my fingerprint to unlock it, but after the battery died and the phone restarted, I'm now being asked for the PIN, which I can't remember. I've looked for recovery options, but the only solution I've found is a factory reset. I've been using this phone for years and it has tons of important data. I really don't want to lose anything. Is there any way to unlock my phone without losing my data?

Unfortunately, if you're locked out and can’t remember your PIN, resetting the phone seems like the only option. Just be ready to learn from this experience, as it's tough losing all that data.
If your data is crucial, you might want to consider restoring it from a backup after you reset the phone. Just keep in mind that a reset will erase everything on the device unless it's backed up somewhere.
How would I actually go about that?
If you’re using an Android, some shops might help you bypass the PIN. It could be a worthwhile option if the data is really that valuable. Just be cautious of which shop you choose.
Take some time and try all the possible PIN options you've used in the past. If you can't remember anything, a reset might be the necessary evil here.
I'm sorry, but if you don't have backups, this could become a really expensive lesson for you. Even if there are ways to bypass the lock, discussing those typically isn’t allowed here.
We could share tips privately if that works for you.

What do you mean by "backup"?
