I Made a Mistake While Building My First PC — What Should I Expect?

I'm currently building my first PC and I accidentally plugged the Type 4 end of the CPU cable into the motherboard and the end labeled 'CPU' into the PSU. Fortunately, nothing powered on, and I was able to remove the cables and plug them in correctly without any issues. However, I read online that doing this might damage the motherboard if the cable had to be forced into the socket, although in my case, it fit in easily. What are the chances I've caused any damage? I'm really worried because I've already spent a lot on this build, and the thought of breaking it before I even get to use it is terrifying.

You’re probably worrying for nothing! As long as you didn’t power the PC on while it was plugged in incorrectly, you likely haven’t damaged anything. I made a lot of mistakes when I built my first PC too, and everything turned out fine. These components are built to be pretty sturdy!

Exactly! I had a few freak-out moments while building mine as well, like when I heard weird sounds while seating the motherboard in the case. But once I powered it up, everything worked perfectly. You're gonna be fine!
