However, I recently stumbled upon DevOps while getting into media servers and dabbling with Linux. Although I'm still learning the basics and feeling a bit lost, this new interest has me wondering about my future career path. The other day, I learned that many IT courses align with CS, which got me thinking: Can I pursue a career in DevOps with just a CS degree? What should I consider as I explore this field? I feel like I rushed into my major without fully understanding the diverse opportunities available, including roles like Cloud Security Engineer and Data Engineer, and now I'm a bit unsure if I've missed my chance.

I recommend you focus on your CS degree! It opens doors for all sorts of roles. Just keep in mind that jumping straight into security roles is usually a big no-no— you want experience first. Build your programming skills, work with cloud platforms, and then think about pivoting to DevOps or even DevSecOps once you've got your footing. It’s all about experience and skill development.
