I’m New to Coding and Unsure of What to Build Next

Hey everyone! I've been getting back into coding after dealing with severe burnout, and I'm looking for some guidance on what to focus on next. I started learning JavaScript just a couple of months ago and recently managed to complete my first small project. However, I'm feeling a bit lost and could use your advice. Should I continue learning through tutorials, or would it be better to start building something from scratch? If I choose to build, how do I even begin? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

If you're not sure what to tackle, check out projects like the ones on GitHub's 'build your own X' list. Remember, whichever project you chose, always try to build it from the ground up to gain real experience. Anything is fair game to expand upon!

Honestly, think about what excites you. That should guide your choices. If you're struggling to feel excited about coding right now, maybe take a break or do something fun—like playing Age of Empires II! Whatever you pick, it should feel rewarding for you.

Consider starting with a to-do list app. It might seem trivial, but it offers tons of opportunities to add features as you learn. From basic functionality like creating, updating, and deleting tasks to more advanced stuff like timers, reminders, and even collaborations later on. It's a project that grows with you!

That actually sounds like a great idea! I can see how it can evolve with new features!

I suggest picking something simple that interests you, and then try to replicate it on your own. It's super effective for learning because when you're invested in a project, you'll push yourself to solve challenges and learn new things along the way—plus, it's more fun!

Just dive in and build something from scratch! You could start by using AI to help you outline the structure, then break it down into components. Write your pseudo code first to plan what you want to achieve, and when you hit a wall, use AI for help. Start small to keep it manageable, and you’ll feel that great sense of accomplishment when you finish. Don't overthink it!
