Installing Linux on an Old Acer Laptop with Locked NVRAM

I'm trying to breathe new life into my old Acer ES1-533 laptop by installing Linux, but I keep hitting a wall. I've attempted various distributions over a long time, but they freeze at different points during the installation process, and I can't even boot from live Linux images. Recently, I learned that using Ventoy may allow me to run live Linux, but all installations fail at the bootloader stage due to a locked NVRAM. Is there a lightweight Linux distribution that can be easily installed on a laptop with this issue?

You might want to try the standard Debian installer rather than live images. It has an option for installing to a 'removable' path, which can help with your locked NVRAM issue. After that, you can manually set the bootloader to the EFI partition at EFI/boot/bootx64.efi. If your laptop supports it, consider using the legacy boot option to install and boot.

I totally get that! But could you give me some tips on how to do that? I know some commands, but this has me stumped.
