Intel B580 vs. AMD 7600xt: Which Budget GPU Should I Choose?

I'm building a budget PC for my wife since her old setup can't handle the games she wants to play. I've heard good things about the Intel B580, and I plan to pair it with either an i5 13600 or a Ryzen 5 7600x, so CPU issues shouldn't matter. While I aim for a 1440p experience, I'm not sure how much she values the resolution. I'm really curious about how the B580 and AMD 7600xt perform at 1080p and 1440p, especially with AMD's FSR and frame generation technologies (not sure what the AMD counterpart to NVIDIA's frame generation is). The 4060 is also an option, but I'd prefer more VRAM with whichever I choose.

Since your GPU will be matched with a capable CPU, I'd say the Intel B580 edges out slightly. It should serve you well for 1080p and some decent gaming experiences.

I can’t comment much on the 7600xt, but I own a B580 with a 7600 CPU, and I run all my games at 1080p on ultra settings pretty smoothly, usually hitting over 100 fps. For instance, I hit 110 fps in Cyberpunk 2077 last night. You might face some performance dips in ultra settings on newer games like Black Myth: Wukong and Starfield, but most games handle fine!

I’ve had the 7600xt for about a year, and I’d say it only really shines for 1080p. If you set everything to ultra in demanding games like RDR2, you might drop below 60 fps, so you'd need to adjust graphics settings even there. The Intel option could be better for your needs, but I've heard mixed reviews about its drivers.

I game at 1440p with a 3060ti, so trust me, the 7600xt can definitely handle 1440p, but you might need to tweak settings for smoother play.

The Intel B580 is generally considered the better GPU when compared to the 7600xt, especially for the kind of games you're looking to play.
