Intel i7 14th Gen vs Ryzen 7 7800X3D: Which Should I Choose?

I'm a bit torn between choosing the Intel i7 14th Gen and the Ryzen 7 7800X3D processors. Many comparison sites seem to favor Intel, often by a noticeable margin, though I found one comparison where the Ryzen performed better in some games. Considering that I don't plan to change my processor for at least a decade, I lean towards the Intel since I believe it'll remain viable for that long. The Intel option seems more balanced, and the FPS difference between the two doesn't seem large enough to justify spending an extra $50-$100, especially since I'm not a heavy gamer and probably won't notice a variation of around 30-70 FPS. However, I'm worried because the Ryzen has significantly more sales on Amazon compared to Intel and is often recommended by creators on platforms like YouTube and TikTok. I don't want to end up with a processor primarily suited for gamers when I don't game much, nor do I want an Intel with potential optimization issues. Any advice to help reassure me about my choice would be really appreciated!

In benchmarks, the 7800X3D often outpaces the 14th Gen i7 by a decent margin—but keep in mind that the i7 has more power for non-gaming tasks. If you plan on gaming at resolutions higher than 1080p, the Ryzen will likely shine more, while the Intel might suit you better if you're focused on productivity. Just remember, the Intel platform won't have as many upgrade options in the future.

Don’t forget that neither the i7 nor the Ryzen 7 have integrated graphics, so you will definitely need a dedicated GPU while you're waiting to buy one. In terms of performance, the Ryzen often comes out on top for gaming, and with their newer series coming out, you’ll have more options down the line compared to Intel.
