Hey everyone, I'm in the process of building a new PC soon. Considering the current high prices for RAM, I'm thinking about starting with 16GB of DDR5 now and possibly upgrading to 32GB later when prices hopefully drop. I'd like to know if 16GB will be sufficient for running AAA games without issues or if I should opt for 32GB right away. Any advice?

I had a single 16GB stick and couldn't really run some heavy games without stuttering. It was a pre-built machine so I upgraded to 2x16GB and that made a big difference—no more stuttering. For AAA titles, 32GB is definitely a safer bet if you want smoother performance.
Honestly, RAM prices aren't expected to drop any time soon. If you can swing it financially, just go for 32GB now to avoid worrying about it later. If not, getting 16GB and planning to add another 16GB when you can is a solid idea because prices may just keep increasing for a while.
Most of the time, 16GB will be fine. I’d recommend going with that and saving the extra cash for a better GPU instead.
16GB of RAM is still good enough for most AAA games right now, especially if you're mainly gaming. Just ensure you buy 2x8GB sticks instead of a single 16GB stick to take advantage of dual channel performance. Your upgrade plan to 32GB later sounds reasonable!
If you're set on DDR5, I wouldn't go for anything lower than 32GB. But if you end up buying a single stick of 16GB for now, you can always upgrade later with another stick.
