Is 32GB RAM enough for gaming and multitasking?

I just returned from college and noticed my gaming performance in League of Legends is lacking; I'm getting low FPS. I genuinely thought that having 32GB of RAM would be more than enough for gaming and also running Spotify, Discord, and Chrome simultaneously. However, my task manager shows memory usage over 80%, which is surprising given the amount of RAM I have, although it's DDR4 with lower MHz. I'm wondering if there's any way to optimize this or if I should consider upgrading my RAM, especially with prices being so high right now.

Can you share your CPU and GPU specs? Knowing that can help figure out the root of the problem.

I have an i9-9900K and an RTX 2080 Super. It's a prebuilt, so the specs are a bit outdated.

With the specs you have, it’s likely a software issue rather than RAM speed being a bottleneck. 2666MHz isn’t your main problem here.

Windows utilizes memory to cache data for faster access. Unless you're completely out of RAM, your issue may not be RAM-related at all. What’s your League of Legends memory usage looking like?

Have you restarted your PC lately? Sometimes that can clear up a lot of issues. It can be surprising how much memory is reclaimed by a simple restart.

I shut down my PC every night, so I thought I was good on that front.

Honestly, 32GB should be sufficient. You might be running too many Chrome tabs or have background processes eating up resources. Have you checked what’s using all that memory?

I typically run around 5 apps, but when I open certain web pages, my system slows down a lot. Are there specific settings I should look into for Chrome?
