I'm considering buying a used RTX 3080 for $400. It seems like it's not a crazy deal, but I'm unsure if it's slightly less than the average market price. I've noticed that the 6800 XT is available for around $400 or less pretty frequently. What do you all think?

If you're looking for price comparisons, eBay is a great tool. Check 'sold listings' and factor in eBay's fees. So realistically, if you aim for $360, that's a more reasonable price point if bought locally instead of through eBay.
I picked mine up for $330 last year, but I know prices are different now! Just keep in mind that the market has changed since then.
I think $400 is a decent price for a used 3080! Just keep in mind the potential for scams in the used market. I've even seen some listings around $380. If you can negotiate down to that, that would be a win, but always pick it up in person to check it out first!
Honestly, I wouldn't go for it. The 3080s are getting older and were popular for mining, which raises some concerns. I'd recommend looking into newer options like the RTX 5070, which runs around $550 and offers better performance.
I get what you're saying. Though the seller claims it's never been used for mining, I might pass this time and keep searching for a better deal.
Everyone offloaded their mining GPUs a while back, but just like buying a used car, you’ll want to consider how it was used. A mining GPU might actually have had controlled usage compared to a gaming card.
True, those were different times! Prices have definitely fluctuated more recently.
