Is 82°C Normal for a Ryzen 5 3600 Under Stress Test?

I just picked up a used Ryzen 5 3600, and I've been monitoring the temperatures. When idle, it sits at around 38°C, but during a stress test using OCCT Extreme for 5 minutes, it peaked at 82°C. Is this temperature normal for a Ryzen 5 3600 when under stress? I'm using a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 cooler with MX-6 thermal paste applied just before the test.

It's totally fine! No worries about it being that high for a stress test.

Thanks, I appreciate it!

Still within normal limits! Stress tests can really push temperatures up. How do your temps look during regular gaming usage? That's really what you should be focusing on.

I need to check that. I plan on playing Valorant later, which I think will be CPU-intensive. In NBA 2K, it hovered around 52°C.

Those temps look normal! The 30s on idle indicate that your cooler is doing its job well. Just your CPU working hard during the stress test.

Thanks for the reassurance!

That temp is still below the maximum allowed, so it should be fine unless you're experiencing throttling issues. Just keep an eye on it during regular use too.

What do you mean by throttling? I noticed my CPU fan was getting pretty loud due to the high speed during the test.

I had a 3600X, and your temps sound about right to me. They seem pretty normal.

What kind of temps did you get during your stress tests? How about idle and while gaming?
