I built a new PC a few months ago, and everything seemed fine until I checked my GPU temperatures during a gaming session. I saw the hotspot reaching 95°C under 100% load, which seems really high to me. Even with the fans cranked to 100%, it only drops to about 90°C. After undervolting the card, I managed to bring it down to around 87°C. I also tested the setup in open air with no change in temperatures. It's worth noting that the GPU is brand new, and the core temperature stays around 70°C max. Is it safe to run it like this long-term?

What GPU are you using? The ambient room temp and case airflow can all contribute to the overheating issue. Are you running your ASUS 4070 Ti Super in a well-ventilated case? If it’s a Montech Air 903 Max, I’d say that’s a decent case with good airflow. Just aim for better cooling if it doesn’t improve.
Seeing hotspots around 95°C is definitely concerning, especially since your core temp is much lower at 70°C. It’s possible there might be an issue with thermal paste or padding on the card. If you’re okay with it, I’d suggest checking the thermal paste application or considering a better cooling solution soon since prolonged exposure to those high temps can damage your components.
Yeah, overheating can lead to throttling or even permanent damage. Just keep an eye on it and consider a custom cooling solution if it stays that high.
Yeah, my GPU is indeed the 4070 Ti Super. Room temp is about 23°C, and I’ve got 4 intakes and 3 exhausts in the case. Everything seems set up right.
