I'm looking to buy the LG Ultragear 32GR93U monitor and I'm curious if a 144Hz refresh rate is sufficient for my needs. I don't play at a top competitive level, I'm just interested in gaming casually, watching movies, and streaming videos on YouTube. Would you recommend this screen for my use case?

If you're only playing casually, 144Hz could be overkill. Many people are happy with 60Hz for gaming. It’s really only those playing competitively that really need more than that. If you plan to game at a competitive level in the future, invest in a good GPU and consider higher refresh rates then!
Honestly, for your needs, 60Hz would do just fine. YouTube and most movies don’t go above that. But if you might get into more intense gaming later, 144Hz is definitely a step up!
I see your point! Thanks for the advice!
The LG Ultragear series is well-reviewed! Even if it’s not the highest refresh rate, for most casual experiences, 144Hz will still feel great. Plus, if you like high-res gaming, consider how your hardware can handle it. 144Hz makes a difference depending on the games you play!
It sounds like you’re seeking a balance! 144Hz is indeed good enough for almost anyone unless you’re competing. Though sometimes it's more about what your PC can output! If you’re not pushing above 60fps, consider if higher specs are what you actually need.
I think 60Hz is the baseline for basic gaming. If you primarily watch media, it should be enough, but a faster refresh rate is more enjoyable if you do play games. Still, 144Hz can provide a smoother experience for certain titles! Just check if your PC can handle higher frame rates.
Good to know! I'll look into my specs.
Exactly! If your system can push the frames, a 144Hz monitor is nice!
For most casual gamers, 144Hz is perfectly fine! If you're not into super competitive gaming, you won't miss out much. The jump from 60Hz to 144Hz feels amazing for gaming but if you're mainly watching movies or YouTube, they mostly run at 60fps or lower. But hey, if you've got the budget, why not go for it? You might enjoy the smoother experience!
Thanks for clearing that up! I appreciate it.
Yeah, I’ve also switched from 60Hz to 144Hz and it's a game-changer!

Thanks for the insight! I'll keep that in mind.
