Hey folks! I'm planning to upgrade my PC with an RTX 5070 Ti OC and a Ryzen 7 7800X3D, and I have a 700 watt power supply. Do you think this PSU can handle the new components, or should I go ahead and upgrade before installing them?

Using PC Part Picker is a solid idea! Just plug in your build, and it will let you know if you're exceeding the available power budget, which helps a lot.

It really depends on the quality and age of your power supply. If it's a good quality unit and relatively new, you might be okay with it. However, it's still a good idea to consider upgrading for peace of mind, especially for high-performance parts like those. Better safe than sorry!

That's true! A quality PSU can make all the difference. I'd recommend checking the reviews and ratings.

Honestly, you should probably upgrade. I found out the Thermaltake SMART 700W is pretty low-tier and could cause issues. It wouldn't hurt to invest in a reliable gold-rated 850W PSU instead. It could save you a lot of trouble down the road!

That's what I've heard too. Better to spend a bit more now than risk damaging new components!

If you're just looking at the numbers, 700 watts should be sufficient, but it's all about the quality. So just make sure it's a decent unit!
