Is a 7600x and a 5060 with 8GB enough for 1080p gaming at 60 FPS?

I'm trying to decide how much to spend on a gaming build. I'm considering a Ryzen 7600X paired with an RTX 5060 that has 8GB of VRAM. Will this setup allow me to play most games at high settings in 1080p with a stable 60 FPS? I'm uncertain if I need to invest in something more powerful or if this will be sufficient.

You could get by without spending too much, but I'd suggest bumping it up to the 16GB 9060 XT. It’ll give you a significant edge in the coming years as 8GB cards might struggle with new releases.

For something with longevity, consider the 5060 Ti. At a price point of $300-$380, it competes well, especially if you're hoping to game at higher settings down the line.

Do you think spending $100 more is worth it?

If your budget allows, aim for something with 10GB of VRAM, like the 5060 Ti or 9060 XT 16GB. The extra capacity will make a big difference, especially as games become more demanding. If you're set on sticking with 8GB, the 9060 XT typically offers better performance than the 5060 at the same price.

Totally on board with this!

While a 5060 with 8GB can handle most titles at 1080p and deliver around 60 FPS, some newer games demand more VRAM, leading to performance drops. It might be worth considering a used 3070 or going for the 5060 Ti with 16GB VRAM for better future-proofing.

I prefer buying new for reliability though.

You're generally okay for now, except for games like Cyberpunk. I recommend checking benchmarks for the 5060 in games you’re interested in. It's a good idea to be cautious about future titles needing more VRAM, though.

What if a future game I want doesn't run well on it?
