I'm running a 5800X3D CPU and noticing temperatures from 79 to 83 degrees during gaming sessions. I'm contemplating upgrading my cooler, wondering if that would lead to any noticeable performance gains. I've heard the thermal limit is 90 degrees for this CPU, but I'm experiencing bad 1% lows and frequent clock drops during games like Steel Nomad—sometimes 5-10 drops during a single benchmarking pass. Any advice would be appreciated!

Upgrading your cooler probably won't give you better performance. CPUs generally perform fine until they hit the mid-90s Celsius, and then they will start throttling to cool down. So you might not see much difference in your FPS by cooling it further.
Don't expect notable gaming performance gains from a cooler upgrade. Steel Nomad is more CPU-intensive than many games and doesn't necessarily reflect typical gaming performance. It's just a benchmark tool. What cooler are you using right now? A quieter one could help if noise is an issue.
I found that tweaking my 5800X3D with a -30 all cores setup in the curve optimizer helped a lot. My scores in CPU-Z benchmarks improved over stock settings. It's crazy how limiting power can still yield better performance—it's a shift from the old overclocking days!
