Is a C14 power socket safe for a 1250W power supply?

I just got an MSI MAG 1250W power supply, and I'm hearing mixed things about its compatibility with my C14 power socket. A friend mentioned that the socket might not handle that much wattage and suggested I use a C20 instead because it can't exceed 10 amps without risk of overheating. However, I've seen other sources that say a C14 can actually support this wattage. Can someone clarify if a C14 socket can really handle 1250W, or should I consider returning it?

You're good to go! The C14 socket is rated for 15A, which means it can handle up to 1800W on a standard circuit. In reality, even on a 15A circuit, you'd likely see the breaker pop if you tried to continuously draw over 12A. Plus, your power supply has built-in over-temperature protection, so it's pretty safe. Most systems won’t even pull 1250W continuously unless you're pushing some serious hardware, like a high-end CPU and GPU combo under full load.

Totally get that! I was aiming for a 1000W PSU too, but with the sale, 1250W felt like a solid deal. It gives some buffer for future upgrades without breaking the bank! No crypto mining for me either; I prefer straightforward gaming.
