Is a Community College CS1 Class Manageable with Little Coding Experience?

I'm a high school junior who's been coding casually, especially around AI and data translation. I'm excited about pursuing something more serious in computer science and plan to take an introductory CS class at a community college. The instructor mentioned that no prior experience is necessary. The syllabus covers programming structures, object-oriented concepts, problem-solving, and some basics of file processing, all in an online format with various assignments. I'm curious if this course will be beginner-friendly, given my limited coding experience. What should I expect?

Honestly, since you’re coming in with a background in AI, it might be a bit trickier for you than for someone starting from scratch. You might struggle with some concepts because you could be tempted to rely on what you already know. It’s probably best to treat this as a way to genuinely learn programming. Consider cutting out AI tools from your workflow for now and get ready to build those foundational skills. Right now, you're still on your journey to becoming a programmer!
