I found a great deal on a laptop with a 3070 Ti for €350, but it won't boot due to a "dark spot" on the motherboard. It's been checked, and I'm wondering if this is a fixable issue or if I'm just looking at a potential money pit. There are no pictures of the motherboard to evaluate further. Should I go for it or pass?

Honestly, it sounds like a paperweight to me. If the motherboard's that damaged, you're better off looking for another option.
It really depends on what repair work you're considering. If you're handy with repairs, you might try tackling it yourself, but if you're hiring someone, be prepared for high labor costs. Replacement motherboards for gaming laptops can be as expensive as the whole laptop, so it often isn't worth it.
I wouldn't attempt to fix it myself either. Just want to know if fixing it costs around €100 or €700 for a full replacement.
