I managed to buy an RTX 5080 before prices increased, but I can't currently afford to replace my AM4 motherboard, CPU, and DDR4 memory. I'd like to keep using my 64 GB of DDR4 with my Ryzen 7 5800X for now. I know the processor may bottleneck the GPU, but my main workloads are Blender, Unreal Engine, and video editing, with some 4K gaming mixed in. Will the 5800X struggle badly, or should the RTX 5080 carry things well enough that I can wait a year or two before upgrading the platform?

If your Blender, Unreal, and editing work benefits from more cores, a newer CPU could eventually help more than a gaming-focused upgrade. One possible interim route would be a DDR4-compatible Intel system such as a 14600- or 14700-class chip, though that would still require a new motherboard and may use considerably more power and produce more heat. Since you already have an AM4 board, keeping the 5800X for now is the simplest option.
You’re more likely to notice a CPU bottleneck at 1440p or lower, where the RTX 5080 can produce much higher frame rates. At 4K, the difference should be less significant. Pay attention to actual frame-time spikes, stuttering, or poor minimum FPS rather than assuming a bottleneck automatically means the system will perform badly.
The 5800X is still a capable processor, and at 4K the GPU will usually be the limiting factor. Most AAA games should run well, although some CPU-heavy strategy, simulation, and large-scale games may leave performance on the table. I’d use the system as-is and upgrade when prices and your budget make it worthwhile.
