I'm considering getting a Snapdragon laptop because I've heard they're fantastic with great battery life and a sleek design. However, in my computer science program, I'll need to run virtual machines, and I've been told that ARM processors don't perform well with Linux. I'm worried about having to constantly tweak things to make everything work. Should I go for it, or is there a better option?

Actually, ARM and Linux can work pretty well together, but Snapdragon processors haven't gotten the support they need yet. If you want a hassle-free experience, go with AMD64 instead. You'll have better software compatibility. If you're adventurous, a MacBook running Asahi Linux could also be a unique option, though it's a work in progress.
Avoid Snapdragon laptops for VMs—they run them poorly. If you have a desktop, you could remote into it and use x86 software instead. Also, what's your long-term goal in this program?
I have a Nitro 5 gaming laptop that handles my virtual machines really well. I run Fedora as the primary OS, and it's been smooth sailing for me. Just make sure to choose a setup that you’re comfortable with.
