I recently upgraded my PC with a new case, GPU, and RAM, but while moving my old parts, I accidentally shorted the motherboard. Now, I'm left with a potentially dead 10600K CPU and need to buy a new CPU and motherboard. Since I've already invested in a 32GB dual-channel RAM kit, I want to make sure I get compatible parts without wasting my investment. A friend suggested picking a B550 motherboard and a Ryzen 5600X. Is the AM4 platform still a good option moving into 2025, or should I consider going for AM5?

Yeah, AM4 is still a solid choice. With high-end CPUs like the 5800X3D, you're set for a couple of years. It's especially great for gaming if you find it at a good price.
