Is an Internal Sound Card a Good Option When My Audio Jacks are Broken?

Hey everyone!

I've been having trouble with the audio jacks on my PC for a while, and recently, my cat broke the front audio jacks by yanking on the cables. Now I'm looking for a way to connect both my microphone and audio, and I'm wondering if buying an internal sound card is a good choice. I've seen that external sound cards are more expensive, so I'm leaning towards something internal. What do you think?

Before you go for a sound card, just make sure your audio cables aren’t the issue. Replacing the broken ports could be an option, but if they’re non-functional, a sound card is easier. Just remember to check if you have an available PCIe slot, and you’ll need to set it as the default device in Windows.

A simple USB to 3.5mm jack adapter might be your best bet! They’re super affordable and can instantly solve your problem without having to dive into hardware.

Definitely consider USB adapters. You can find basic ones for around £5-10, and they’re about the size of a USB stick. Easy fix!

I'm really curious about how your cat managed to break the jacks! Are you letting your cat near your PC setup? That sounds like quite a disaster waiting to happen!
