I've been noticing some unusual changes on my computer that are making me think there might be a hidden threat. I usually rely on Norton antivirus, which has served me well, but recently I've started seeing differences in my taskbar that raise alarms. Can anyone help me identify or resolve this issue?

Honestly, it sounds like Norton isn't cutting it for you anymore. A lot of people feel it's not effective against newer threats. If you’re really concerned about malware, a clean slate might be the best way to go. Consider wiping your system and doing a fresh install of Windows from a USB stick.
I’ve had problems where pressing caps or num lock would throw me to the desktop too. It might be a sign something's off with your system. A reinstall might fix these glitches along with any potential malware.
I totally agree about Norton. It's pretty much adware these days. If you suspect a virus, you should definitely reinstall Windows using a USB drive. It’s a solid way to ensure you're starting fresh.
You might want to try Malwarebytes as an alternative. A lot of users have had success with it. It's worth a shot since Norton doesn't seem to be doing the job anymore.
