I just saw an email announcement about the new 10x increase in Claude's context capabilities, and it's got me really excited! I've been busy all day and haven't had a chance to try it out yet, but I think this could be a game changer. Claude has been my go-to AI for coding, and the only limitation I felt was the context size. With this update, it sounds like they're using retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to enhance projects beyond the previous token limits. What are your thoughts?

RAG, or Retrieval Augmented Generation, lets your projects have much larger knowledge storage. Once you hit the context limit, Claude can automatically use RAG to boost your project's data storage by up to 10 times while keeping the response quality intact. So, if you were stuck at the previous limits, this is a big improvement! Exactly! This makes it much easier to manage project knowledge without losing functionality.
Honestly, I don't see any changes in context. Everything feels the same to me, and I'm paying a lot for this subscription!
I've been looking for updates too, but it feels like nothing's changed at all.
Same here! $200 a month and I feel like I'm not getting anything extra for that.
They've implemented retrieval techniques that allow projects to store and access much more knowledge than before. But keep in mind, the model context itself hasn’t actually exceeded 200k tokens for the core models. So, it's not exactly a full context increase as some might expect.
Yep, that's RAG for you! It's been out for others like Perplexity and I think ChatGPT too for a while.
What email are you referencing? I haven’t seen anything yet, and I’m a bit stuck with the limit myself right now.
I didn't get an email either. What gives?
I wouldn't get too hyped until you try it yourself. It's still possible there will be times when it doesn't return every piece of information you expect. It's probably safer to stay within the original context limits for tasks that need comprehensive details.
That's what I'm thinking too. Has anyone actually tested it extensively yet?
I'm on the same page here. I get that the creators tout their AI’s capabilities, but I'm worried it won't meet my needs. It might just be useful for specific tasks.
I work with AI too, and this is a game changer for handling substantial amounts of data, especially for our projects!
