Is Bazzite a Good Choice for Daily Use?

I'm planning to build a PC that will run exclusively on Linux. I've used Mint before via dual boot and I'm considering whether to stick with it or switch to Bazzite, which seems better for gaming, particularly with SteamOS. However, I'm uncertain about running DaVinci Resolve on Bazzite since I managed to get it working on Mint, although not perfectly due to some unsupported video encoders. What do you think is best for daily use?

I think Bazzite should be fine for your needs. Just keep in mind that while it’s marketed as a gaming OS, any popular distro can be set up for gaming in a short time. If you're hitting a wall with compatibility, it’s more about the specific software than the distro itself!

From what I've heard, you can make DaVinci Resolve work on Linux, but it's not as simple as it seems. You'll need the right codecs to make everything compatible. So, it’s likely you could run it on Bazzite too, but you might have to jump through a few hoops.

I've had a pretty good experience with it overall, but just a heads up - I often run into issues with Nvidia drivers. Just something to keep in mind if you're using similar hardware!

Check out the distro selection page for more info on various options! Remember to back up your data, test things out in a VM, and understand what each command does before hitting Enter! That's key for a smooth experience with Linux!

Bazzite works well for my daily tasks. It comes with Distrobox, which allows you to run apps from Debian/Mint/Ubuntu in containers. Plus, you can install DaVinci Resolve using the command `ujust install-resolve`, which might make things easier for you!
