Is building a high-end PC with RTX 5080 and Ryzen 9850X3D worth it?

I'm looking to upgrade my old setup, switching from a 2700x and RTX 2080 to something more powerful. I'm considering the following components:

- **CPU**: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D or 9800X3D
- **Motherboard**: ASRock B850 Pro-A
- **RAM**: GOODRAM IRDM 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30
- **GPU**: Zotac RTX 5080 AMP Extreme Infinity
- **PSU**: Corsair RM850x ATX 3.1
- **CPU Cooler**: Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 + Chromax
- **Case**: ASUS ProArt PA602 Wood Metal Modern Black

I'm based in Poland and found the 9850X3D is only slightly more expensive than the 9800X3D (1799 vs 1949 PLN). I already have a Noctua cooler from my previous build, so I'm keeping it. The GOODRAM RAM is affordable and fits well under the cooler. The Zotac GPU is on sale right now, which is why I'm going for it instead of the 5070 Ti. Since I'm running a 49" monitor, I want to ensure I have enough performance for future gaming.

The ProArt case looks stunning but is pretty pricey and heavy. I could stick to my old Define R6, but I'm looking for something fresh and modern. I prefer cases with solid panels since my PC is facing away from me. I'm open to suggestions about this setup!

I actually have a similar build, but I would go for the 5070 Ti and 7800X3D to save some cash. The Zotac 5080 tends to have noisy fans, even at low speeds, which can be annoying if you're aiming for a quiet setup. Plus, in many games, you're likely to be GPU limited, so the 7800X3D isn’t a huge downgrade for the price. Consider buying a used CPU to save even more! As for your PSU, a 1000W platinum might be quieter, but 850W will definitely do the job too.

I appreciate the advice! I ended up grabbing the Zotac since it was a good deal, and I also chose the 9800X3D partly because it comes with Crimson Desert, which I wanted to play. I'm now looking at the GIGABYTE X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 as it's on sale. Would that be a good choice compared to the MSI?

You might want to consider a different motherboard; I'd recommend MSI or Gigabyte over ASRock. Also, if you're looking at the 9850X3D vs 9800X3D, I'd save the cash and go for the 9800X3D instead. The performance difference isn’t really worth the extra heat and noise the 9850X3D generates, especially at ultrawide resolutions.

Thanks! I’m leaning towards the 9800X3D now. Do you think there’s a significant downside to ASRock boards? I’ve used them in the past without issues.
