Is It Worth It to Buy Used 32GB DDR5 RAM?

I'm considering whether to purchase a used 32GB DDR5 RAM kit or just go for a new one. I'm curious to hear from anyone who has experience buying or using second-hand DDR5 RAM. Did it work out for you? Were there any issues or problems? Also, how much cheaper does it need to be to justify the risk compared to buying new?

Used RAM can be fine, but if you can't test it first, you risk losing a lot of money. Seriously, if a seller won't let you test it, just walk away. I once got scammed when the RAM turned out to be a different kit than advertised.

If the RAM is legit, there's hardly any risk involved. Just be cautious of scams; some sellers might remove the actual RAM chips and replace them with fake ones. Generally, if the price seems too good to be true, it probably is.

It really comes down to how much risk you're willing to take. If the seller has a good reputation, then go for it! But keep an eye out for scams—they're pretty common in this space.

As long as there are no moving parts like in SSDs, buying used RAM is usually safe. Just test it out first; if it boots, you're golden! I bought used DDR5 myself and it's working perfectly.

Honestly, I don't care if it's used as long as the specs are correct and it works fine. If you can test it before buying, you're good to go.
