I'm just starting out in building my own PC after not having one for over a decade. A coworker offered to sell me his RTX 3090 for $500, and he'll throw in a 1200W PSU too. He suggested I come check it out first. Is this a good deal for someone like me?

Sounds like a solid buy! That PSU alone is worth something. If you ever decide to undervolt it, you could get even better performance while keeping temps lower, but that’s optional.
That definitely sounds like a great deal! The RTX 3090 has a lot of VRAM, which will keep it relevant for gaming for a while. Plus, it doesn't have the melting issues seen in some of the newer models, so overall it’s a solid option, especially with the PSU included.
It’s a good price. Just be aware some models have had issues with VRAM running hot, so it might be worth looking into cooling solutions if you experience any overheating. But overall, it seems like a good investment.
You can't beat that price, especially seeing how much people list 3090s for these days! Just make sure to check the condition and performance. Also, with the PSU, you’re set.
If the card works fine, $500 is a steal, particularly with that PSU. You’ll be good for most games at high settings. Definitely worth checking out in action!
