I'm looking to either upgrade my current PC or buy a new one, as I dream of playing Cyberpunk 2077 with max settings and ray tracing, at least at 1440p (4K would be even better). I aim for 60-120 FPS while using DLSS and also want to play other games. My current setup is quite old, with DDR4-2133 RAM, and I'm uncertain whether to stick with it or invest in a DDR5 build, considering the current market price for components is high. My current specs include an i5-6600 CPU, a GTX 1060 GPU, and 16GB of DDR4 RAM. I'm also contemplating purchasing a used computer that comes with a Ryzen 5 9600x and DDR5 RAM. I want to make sure I get a powerful gaming PC for under €1800 that will last me for another decade, ideally with some upgrades down the line. Any advice would really help!

Honestly, your current CPU is a bit outdated. If you upgrade to an AMD 5700X3D or similar, you'd benefit from DDR4-3600 RAM. But if you're leaning toward a DDR5 build, that’s also a solid option and you won’t need to worry too much about RAM speeds for gaming at that level.
A few things to note: you need around 32GB of DDR5 for your goals. Also, Ryzen 5 9600x requires DDR5, so you can't stick with your old RAM. For the GPU, while the RTX 5070 can handle 4K, it won’t give you great performance—1440p is what you should aim for with that card. And about the SSD, I'd suggest something like the Samsung 990 Evo Plus for a more effective load time experience.
Sorry, it's not a troll. My knowledge is just lacking a lot and that's why I needed to ask. I read some people are considering DDR4 now so I wanted to know if my old RAM is worth it or not.
If you’re aiming to upgrade, going with DDR5 is definitely the move. Your current RAM just won't cut it for a high-performance build. The new PC you’re looking at is a solid option for 1440p gaming, but if you can, try to get a better GPU like the RTX 5070 Ti for a smoother experience.
Alright, thank you!
Path tracing is heavily taxing on CPUs, and your older RAM might bottleneck performance. You'd be better off with faster RAM if you're serious about max settings in Cyberpunk, especially with your dream setup.
Thanks! Sounds like I should really consider upgrading all my parts then.

Seems like DDR5 is the way to go then, even with the current prices. Thanks!
