Is Deepseek Starting to Think in Other Languages?

I've noticed something interesting lately. I speak Spanish, and just a few days ago, Deepseek seemed to think only in English. I always thought that it was better at English and that it had a more complicated understanding of it compared to Spanish. However, since yesterday, it feels like Deepseek is starting to operate in my language. Is this happening to anyone else? Thanks!

There's a recent update, R1-0528, that allows Deepseek to think in languages other than English now! So it seems you're not alone in seeing this change.

Exactly! It responds in the language you choose to use. I've seen it work well with both English and Chinese, for sure!

It seems to adapt based on the user's language input. It figured out I was from Canada and keeps making references to stereotypes like maple syrup!

Sí, me ha pasado lo mismo. Deepseek a veces responde en inglés o incluso chino, pero la mayor parte del tiempo ya piensa en español ahora.

I think one of its weaknesses is that it's been overtrained on English content and struggles a bit with other languages like Spanish.
