Is DLSS 5 Worth the Extra Cost for My 1080p Gaming Setup?

I'm in the process of building a new gaming PC and trying to choose between two graphics cards with a significant price difference: the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB priced at $712 and the RX 9060 XT 16GB at $523, which is a $189 difference. My primary focus is on playing single-player games at 1080p. I'm curious if the additional features of the NVIDIA card, like DLSS and other enhancements, justify the higher price compared to the RX 9060 XT, especially considering their performance might be comparable.

While DLSS does have its perks, at 1080p it isn’t as crucial since the upscaling benefits shine more at 1440p or 4K. Both cards are pretty solid for 1080p rendering; going for the 9060 XT seems like a more sensible choice unless you need NVIDIA for specific tasks or applications.

I wouldn't recommend either card for 1080p; they seem overkill. The VRAM premium isn't really utilized at that resolution, and you might find them lacking in performance when pushed too hard.

For pure gaming, spending an extra $200 is not worth it, especially if you're playing just at 1080p. You might find better value elsewhere!

Totally agree! Even for game development with engines like Unreal or Unity, the NVIDIA advantages don't stand out unless you're diving into 3D art, which isn't what most people are doing.

For 1080p gaming, both of these cards are overkill! I'd say go for the RX 9060 XT. If you only care about 1080p, consider an older GPU like a 7800 XT to save even more cash.

Honestly, the difference between FSR 4.1 and DLSS 4.5 isn’t huge, and we don’t know much about DLSS 5 yet since it was only shown with super high-end cards. If you aren't planning on using NVIDIA for anything other than gaming, you might as well save the cash for future upgrades or just grab some games with it!
